NORTH FORT MYERS, Florida - Florida Sailing and Cruising
School (FS&CS) has scheduled round-trip cruises from
Fort Myers to Key West in April and May for students
who wish to complete requirements for Offshore Powerboat
Cruising (P-103).
Reservations are still being accepted for cruises
scheduled April 1-8 and May 1-8. Students live aboard
the vessel where they will learn how to plan, prepare
and provision for a seven-day cruise to the Florida
Keys and back. The curriculum includes maintaining
ship systems while underway, offshore navigation,
electronic navigation, night passage-making, making
landfall at night, overnight anchoring, and advanced
marlinspike.
To participate, students must have taken Inland Powerboat
Cruising (P102) or demonstrate equivalent inland and
coastal cruising experience.
Course rate is $2,395 per person.
FS&CS is also accepting reservations for Inland Powerboat
Cruising and > Basic Power Boating, both three-day
courses, and for Combination Handling and Cruising
(P-101 and P-102), a comprehensive six-day course.
Safe Boating (101), a one-day course, helps students
new to boating learn terminology, knots and lines,
seamanship tips and protocols, and how to read charts.
First Mate, a two-day course combining boat and classroom
instruction, teaches safe boating and seamanship skills
necessary to be an effective first mate on a recreational
powerboat.
